Welcome to the Irish Laboratory Animal Science (ILASA) website.

ILASA was established with the aim of promoting high ethical and welfare standards in the use of laboratory animals for scientific purposes.

The objectives of ILASA are to facilitate and promote the sharing of knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

• Animal welfare
• The implementation of the 3Rs in relation to animal research
• The orderly running of premises authorised under Statutory Instrument 543 of 2012 for the use of animals in research
• Liaison with the competent authorities to ensure that legislative requirements are workable and adhered to.

We have some new initiatives which we are rolling out.

The first of these is improved access to CPD for our members. We have organised a programme of online talks focusing on specific topics highlighted by our members. We are liaising with Charles Rivers to develop a more focused user friendly online research database for our members.

More will follow as we develop the website.

Deirdre Daly

Following consultation with researchers, technicians and the HPRA ILASA identified a number of topics which would be of interest to all.

As such, ILASA organised a programme of online talks.

These may also be useful to those wishing to fulfil their training requirements.

To register for these talks please email: secretary.ilasa@gmail.com
